Today was a fun day at the shop. It is always exciting to see customers come into the shop for the first time. Their eyes light up with delight at all the fun edible items we sell. Although today, everyone had a mission. First, they had to stop by the library and pick up their "passport" to take a journey around town. Each of the businesses provided either samplings of ethnic foods or handed out novelty/travel items. We stamped their passport with proof of their visit. When they had at least 10 listed on their passport, they could have their name entered into a drawing to win a set of luggage!
The food samples that we offered were; Lefse, Kringle, Krumkake, and Norwegian Wedding Cake. Do you get the theme that we had? Each business represented different ethnic backgrounds. Ours was fairly natural considering we all have some Scandinavian in us!

Out of the Mouths of Babes
Friday May 8th was a fun day for me! I was part of a panel discussion class for Marketplace For Kids. The title of the class that we taught was "Be Your Own Boss". Steve Aune and Dallas from Country Financial and Tiffany Johnson, D.C. from Healing Touch Chiropractic all from Fargo were part of the panel. We were at Concordia College in Fargo, ND. Imagine owning your own business. No worries, you're the boss! You work when you want to--or do you? The students learned what it is like to start, own, and operate your own business.
We had five classes of 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. Man, they had so many great questions and seemed to really enjoy hearing what we had to say. Of course, the kids were pretty excited when they found out that they each got to take a cookie with them at the end of the class period.
It was fun to see the enthusiasm the students had for Marketplace for Ideas for Kids. This program is definitely growing young Entrepreneurs. I just wish that we would have had this opportunity when I was younger. We may have been making cookies a lot sooner!
Everyone at the shop is gearing up for The Taste of Home Cooking School Thursday, June 18th at the Expo Center in Lisbon, ND. The Taste of Home Magazine is conducting the class. We will be sponsoring a booth at the show. We plan on having samples, door prizes, Father's Day cookies as well as many neat bouquets for sale. Doors open at 4pm. Be sure to stop by and visit with us!

We are back!
It was a fun time (except the traffic) at the Midwest Wholesale Medical Gift Show Buyer's Show. I had never been to Rochester before and I thank Kodee for the use of his Tom Tom. Boy does that help when you don't know where you are going!!
Our booth was on a corner in the building with a balloon shop next to us and a stuffed animal shop across from us. It is always fun when you see the faces of the people the first time that they look at our products and realize that they can eat them! We were able to sell the items that we displayed as well as take orders. Our first time there, we learned quite a bit. There was one other cookie shop, carmel shop, and chocolate shop as well. That was the only food. We handed out samples that were attached to our business card. Everyone thought that was a clever idea.
On the way home, we stopped at several shops in Alexandria hoping to connect with wholesales there also. There is some awesome shops in that town! We didn't see anything like our cookies, so we are checking out the possibilities. All in all, we were dog tired at the end of three days, but once again enjoyed getting out to the public and showing them our cookies.
